Total today announced its acquisition of digital transformation and cloud services business OverBright. The acquisition accelerates Total's strategy of focusing growth on IT solutions and services, adding enterprise technical skills and over £5m of services revenues. It is expected to provide synergies across the board.

Total has a long-term strategy of developing its IT solutions and services capabilities, and recently revealed strong growth in its managed services business, as part of a 30% year-on-year growth in turnover to £92 million.

OverBright is the trading name of EEC Services International Ltd. It is a specialist provider of cloud and digital transformation services, working with public sector organisations and blue-chip companies, including several FTSE 100 businesses. It has marked technical expertise in Citrix, Microsoft, AWS, Google Cloud, and Rubrik technologies.

“I'm very clear that Total’s future lies in providing customers with end-to-end IT services,” states Aidan Groom, Managing Director of Total. “OverBright has exceptional technical capabilities, and the acquisition is a logical fit with our business: it fits with our strategic direction, it fits very well with the skills customers are looking for, and it fits with the scale of customers we're increasingly working with,” he adds.

“The businesses know each other very well, and are a near perfect match,” says Kevin Goodall, Managing Director of OverBright. He continues, “we've been working on this for a significant period of time and I’m hugely excited about the strategic value we’ll be able to offer our combined customers. Total has an excellent name in the industry, and we’ll be transitioning to the Total brand over the coming months.”

“The two businesses fit together very neatly, and there are a number of synergies we can unlock, not only in terms of process and systems integration, but most meaningfully in terms of our vendor relations and the extended capabilities we can offer our customer base,” notes Aidan.

“Digital transformation and cloud initiatives have been topics high on CIO agendas for several years now, and only further accelerated by global events. After delivering these projects there is an ongoing need for the skills required to keep cloud and workspace technologies optimised and secure and this is another core competency of ours,” explains Kevin Goodall. He continues, “progressive organisations are already seeking business advantage through DevOps and Automation projects, and this looks set to be the next big wave of work.”

The purchase was formally concluded on 18 July 2022 for an undisclosed sum and includes equity and a key, long-term role in Total’s leadership team for OverBright owner Kevin Goodall.

Aidan Groom concludes, “It's more apparent than ever before that our customers want IT partners that can work with them at a high level, informing their IT strategy, aligning it with business goals, and providing them with the technical expertise to design, implement, and manage it. The OverBright acquisition means that we can do all that, and at the highest level. With almost half of our staff now sitting in roles classified as technical it strengthens both our capability and credibility as a strategic technology partner to our customers.”
