An Exchange to Office 365 Migration is typically composed of 7 steps.
1 Requirements capture
To enable Total to provide you with a clear price for your migration, an experienced consultant will help you to understand the best subscription option for you and discuss the migration options and requirements with you as part of Total’s (non-chargeable) pre-sale engagement.
For complex environments a formal scoping exercise of on-site assessment and analysis will ensure that all potential issues are anticipated and allowed for within the formal proposal.
Creation and configuration (done remotely) of your customised Office 365 environment. This will include the creation of any custom domains and, if required, the setting up of advanced features such as multi-factor authentication, single sign-on, message encryption, disclaimers and Lync integration.
4 Migration preparation
Based upon the agreed migration path, Total’s consultant will set-up user accounts or Active Directory synchronisation and then define and agree a sequential migration process.
Responsibility for this stage will be agreed prior to project commencement but many customers wish to undertake the migration of mailboxes and data themselves in accordance with the process established in Step 4. Where this is the case Total’s consultant will work with your system administrator to migrate the first few mailboxes.
Following migration Total’s consultant will retire your old messaging system and conduct a technical tidy-up.
7 Knowledge transfer
The final step involves provision of technical documentation and a face-to-face knowledge transfer to equip your system admin with the know-how to manage your Office 365 implementation.
