Business Continuity

Proactively ensuring your mission-critical operations continue during a disruption event.

First and foremost, Business Continuity is about having a plan.

Maintaining standard functions within your business is critical to your business's performance. One of the core elements of this is maintaining your IT structure and ensuring after an emergency or disruption your business can return to its normal state. Total Computers provides business continuity services through withstanding critical outages supported by our internal experts. We make sure that our team stays aware of the latest trends, including incidents related to cyber security and common disasters. This enables us to provide robust support for your business in the event of any issues.

How Total Can Help

To ensure the Business Continuity Plan (BCP) is effective in its operation, it is tested every 6 months and always has clear internal ownership. The following points ensure an effective response to an incident:

  • Runbooks created and regularly tested based on defined BCP
  • A clear procedure for escalation & control of an incident
  • Communication with stakeholders

Once Total Computers understands a customer's technological estate we are able to advise on areas where Business Continuity Disaster Recovery (BCDR) planning will provide the most benefit. This includes maintaining network connectivity to servers, storage and cloud-based applications, reducing downtime in the event of loss of connectivity and how to best communicate with their customers. Our main aim will be to ensure the customer loses as little time and data as possible, and that they can continue to operate critical systems and rollback when business-as-usual is declared.

We will first identify any single points of failure and advise on several solutions to mitigate this risk. These solutions will range from low to high costs, and from minimum to maximum specifications, ensuring that we have given a full range of products and services to choose from that best fit the customer's needs.

Once we have identified and advised on how to mitigate points of failure, we will then help the customer to create a plan that will ensure they can continue to run until business-as-usual is returned. This may include consultancy services, hot-desk functionality at a Disaster Recovery Site local to their office, cloud back-up and recovery, mobile data recovery, cloud-to-cloud/on-premises backup services or ship-to-site recovery.

Taking Care of Technology

There's a greater demand than ever for businesses to utilise technology and we are here to make that process simple.

Paul Perkins

Director of Technology,
The British Horse Society

We have had to do a major restoration once because a patch was applied to our live CRM system in error. We couldn’t start up the CRM system, so had to recover it from a backup. It all worked perfectly, and very quickly – our agreement specified we would get it back within four hours, but it was a lot faster than that. In the past, I’ve worked with big IT organisations whose first response to any question is to pull the contract out – I detest that.

With Total, even before we started the RFP we had conversations with them about how we were worried about our existing backup and DR, and Total gave us a lot of help to ensure we weren’t at risk – even though they knew they might not win the contract. I would absolutely recommend Total. Their approach is fantastic, and their people are really, really easy to deal with. I’m really confident in the backup and DR solution, and it’s good that I can give that confidence to our management and trustees.
