Following an internal assessment of IT and the challenges the organisation was facing, it was deemed business critical to prioritise the planning and delivery of a fully managed IT service.

Challenge

After losing their IT Manager it quickly became apparent that they had several IT issues with a poorly designed and aged IT infrastructure that wasn’t aligned to business needs. They had been supported previously by another IT provider, but Total could offer additional support at a more cost-effective price.

Solution

Total provided expert consultancy to identify issues with the existing infrastructure and rectify them to stabilise the IT infrastructure.

Additionally, a managed service was implemented to help the small IT team manage and support the IT infrastructure. This means implementing proactive monitoring to identify potential problems, specialist third line support to help with more challenging problems, patch management to alleviate workload and out of hours support for VIP users.

Mercer & Hole also chose consultancy to help define a digital strategy that would align IT to business needs and to implement that strategy providing a modern data centre based on Nutanix hyper-converged infrastructure and Nutanix virtualisation Migration to the cloud of Exchange & Citrix.

Outcome

After providing the modern data centre based on Nutanix hyper-converged infrastructure, Mercer & Hole reported reduced IT overheads using less than 10% of the power the old equipment used.
